FAQ
General
If I can run .. km, will I be able to do the same distance of the Hang-on Run?
The short and simple answer is no.
To take part in this run, some basic (survivalrun) skills are required (for example: footlock, rope techniques). For the 13km distance these techniques must be routine. Survivalrun is known for many and tough obstacles. If you are a less experienced obstaclerunner, we strongly advise to check out out video’s (see lower homepage), check out our obstacles section and do your research before choosing your distance. We also offer couples and group runs in which you are allowed to help each other.
What kind of obstacles can I expect?
We have published the exact route and obstacles on this site. It’s also possible to join one of our clinics to experience parts of the course. Please contact us via the contactform or via social if you’re interested.
Can I join a training before the run?
It’s possible to join one of our clinics to experience parts of the course. Please contact us via the contactform or via social if you’re interested.
How can I get to the event?
The address is: RCN Vakantiepark Het Grote Bos, Hydeparklaan 24, 3941 ZK Doorn. By car: plan your route with Google Maps. Public transportation: plan your route well in advance with 9292.nl/en. Use destination “Bungalowpark Rcn het Grote Bos, Doorn”. In general: get to trainstation (NS) Driebergen-Zeist. From there you can get a taxi. Or take bus 56 to “Wijk bij Duurstede”, get out at “Het Grote Bos, Doorn”. Be advised: this connection only runs once per hour. You can walk from the station, it will cost you around 40 mins.
Registration
Can I register via e-mail because the subscription page isn’t working.
Registration must be done via the registration page. We apologize if you experience technical issues, please try again later. Still no luck? Please let us know via social or the contactform and we will try to fix it as soon as possible.
How do you make the startgroups and times?
For competition, the start is based on ranking. For all other individual runners we will try to base your starttime based on previous results, if known. This is done to get the best flow through the course and to prevent queues.
When will I get my startnumber?
We will publish the startnumbers and waves at least 7 days prior to the event. We will not send these to you directly. So be sure to check them out on the site, you need to remember this number to get your shirt and wristband. Tip: follow us on Facebook and Instagram so you will know when the lists are online.
What time do I have to start?
As you understand, we want to give everyone the chance to register for the right run. As soon as registration is closed, the planning of the starting groups will start. For race runners, the start time is determined by your ranking. We are not allowed to make changes to this unless this is agreed with the SBN. For other groups we also assign fast runners (if we can see this in the history) in the first starting groups. Partly because of this puzzle, we will only be able to publish the final start lists shortly before the run. So keep an eye on our socials and site and double check your time just before the run! Based on previous runs, we have made an indication of the start times. You can find these at the startlijst.
Running together
How can I get in the same startwave with my friends?
Only duo or team/group tickets guarantee you start together. In all other categories we will plan the startwaves with best flow of the course in mind. For competition runners the times are based on ranking. We are not allowed to change this, unless the Survivalbond decides to do so. Also: we cannot let groups start together by request!
Why won’t you start individual runners together?
We have never accepted requests to start individual runners together and we will not start doing this. Why not? To provide everyone the best possible flow through the course without queues, we will make startwaves based on previous results and speed. This especially important in the competition waves. If you like to do a run together, we have several options like the duo or the teamrun.
I’m driving to the event with… but he/she starts later. Can’t we start together?
No, you can not. Only duo or team/group tickets guarantee you start together. See the above item to see why.
I want to run on someone else’s ticket.
Don’t do this. We may ask for your ID at the packet pick-up. When your name doesn’t correspond, you will be disqualified on the spot. If you still get to run the race, you are not insured. Are you running the competition on someone else’s name? Then you risk a suspension from the Survivalbond. If you are injured or unable to race due to any circumstance, we advise to transfer your ticket to someone else. This is possible under some conditions (see below).
Changing
I’m injured. Can I get a refund?
Refunds aren’t possible. You could transfer your ticket to someone else. Use this form: transfer ticket. You are responsible for getting paid by the new participant. Be advised: this is only possible for a certain amount of time. At one point we must start working with a definitive starting list.
I want to start sooner/later because of this/that.
Once startwaves have been made it is not possible to change times anymore. So make sure you have time for the run. Be advised: no refunds. It is your own responsibility to be present at the run for which you bought a ticket.

Other
What if the run is cancelled (eg. due to bad wheather?
Changes of such an event are very small. In rain or cold the run will still be held. In the event of extreme circumstances we may decide to plan the run at a later time.
Do we get a medal?
We don’t do medals, with the sole purpose of keeping price of the run accessible. We are a non-profit organisation based purely on volunteers. Every euro will go directly to making the event happen.
